Fraud Alert!

Friday, November 22, 2013

Please be alert to a new scam, potentially involving federal district courts, where a fictitious arrest warrant on a fictitious criminal charge is sent to an individual, offering a chance to avoid arrest by providing payment of a specific amount of money.  While this scam may be more prevalent in state and county courts, this particular scam has been reported to have occurred in the Western District of New York within the last two weeks.  Any person who suspects that they have received a fictitious document from federal district court should report this to the Clerk's Office of the U.S. District Court in their area.
