Instructions and Help

CourtWeb provides information on selected recent rulings of those judges of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois who elect to make information available in this form.

When a ruling is posted to CourtWeb by chambers, the description that appears will typically include the caption, case number, date, judge's name, a brief summary of the ruling, and the www link or location for the full text of the document where available.

If you select one of the links on this page, you may be leaving the Web site of the USDC, NYND. How to
Run a
Rulings
Report

1.   Judge and/or Case #:  Select the judge or case number or partial case number (e.g., you can list all cases for a year by selecting only the year, or limit your search to c or cr cases). If you want all cases for all judges, or for a particular judge, just leave the case number blank.

Participating judges are listed on the pull-down menu under "Judge". Click on the arrow in the "Judge" field and scroll up or down the list to see the judges' names.

If you are searching for a particular case number, enter that number in the "Case #" field.

2.  Beginning date:  The beginning date may be changed manually. The report will then include all cases for the judge and/or case number that you entered, beginning with the date you enter, up to and including the current date. You may need to delete numbers in the date field before you can enter new ones.

3.  Run Report:  After you have made the selections for your rulings report, click on the "Run Report" button. When the response appears, you may print the report by clicking the print button on your browser.
